The Christmas holiday is just around the corner, and the air is buzzing with excitement! With the festivities rolling in, we at Las Huellas are happy to combine our holiday events with giving back to South Texas!
Read on to learn how Las Huellas fosters South Texas wildlife conservation and how you can support our Christmas conservation efforts.
Supporting Conservation Education in South Texas
Las Huellas promotes conservation education in South Texas, especially among the youth in our community. With free Hunter Education courses and wildlife education organizations, here are some ways we provide learning and exploration opportunities to help Texans appreciate their heritage:
Endowment Fund and Scholarships
Las Huellas offers scholarships and grants to students who are passionate about wildlife and environmental sciences. We’re proud to have created the Las Huellas Association Endowed Fund, formed in partnership with the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV). We use this $500,000 fund to sponsor students enrolled in wildlife conservation education at the UTRGV College of Science.
Hunter Education
Our hunter education course teaches people about hunting and shooting rules, and other safe practices that can help our conservation efforts. It’s also a great opportunity to enjoy outdoor activities and relate with other hunters.
El Sauz Behind the Gates
Las Huellas has partnered with the East Foundation to sponsor 1,200 schoolchildren to study conservation education at El Sauz Ranch, and we invite you to help us raise these numbers!
Fostering Conservation Efforts in South Texas
Donating or partnering with local organizations is a great way to join us in giving back for Christmas. You can become a part of this amazing plan by participating in any of these initiatives:
Turkey Releases
We partner with state agencies to keep wild turkeys safe by releasing them in secure habitats. This helps us to preserve wild turkey populations and keep their environments in good condition.
Funding for Conservation Projects
Las Huellas helps organizations working in South Texas conservation to build funding and support for their efforts. You can help us provide a solid foundation for South Texas conservation by making a donation to our mission.
Building Community Involvement
Communities are needed to make an impact, and we are passionate about building engagement by organizing events that boost an appreciation for wildlife. As such, we invite hunters, residents, and all community members to have fun and join us in giving back for Christmas. Here are some ways you can participate:
Crawfish Boil
Las Huellas hosts an annual crawfish boil where you can eat crawfish spreads, enjoy drinks and live music, and support our work for South Texas wildlife.
Annual Fishing Event
This event is held in the Rio Grande Valley to help Brownsville youths learn and enjoy fishing. Over time, we’ve organized many events and shared over 20,000 pieces of fishing equipment.
Partnering With Local Organizations for Fundraising
Las Huellas is proud to partner with state and local organizations to help them find support for their conservation and community involvement projects. We partner with a variety of organizations to protect South Texas wildlife.
Support Las Huellas To Give Back This Holiday Season
With the festive season rolling in, you can spread the holiday cheer by partnering with our team and contributing to our Christmas conservation efforts. Protecting wild turkeys and sponsoring students passionate about wildlife and environmental sciences are more than conservation efforts; they’re essential in helping us preserve our heritage.
